SUZANNA PETOT

Born in 1994 in Queens, NY.

Freelance curator, writer, and copy-editor.

Former curator at Gallerie delle Prigioni | Luciano Benetton Collection, Treviso, Italy.

Suzanna’s curatorial approach focuses on increasing accessibility to and understanding of contemporary art to a diverse audience. Her curatorial projects explore interdisciplinary practices, especially performance, installation, film, and fibre art. Her research interests include the history of curating, feminist art, retrospective exhibitions with living artists, and the intersection between community art and urban planning.

She also has great interest in young people’s programming in arts institutions, stemming from her first engagement with museums as a member of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Teen programs.

Suzanna holds an MA in Curating the Art Museum from The Courtauld Institute of Art, London and a BA in the History of Art & Architecture from Boston University. She has curated exhibitions at The Courtauld Gallery, Fabrica, and Gallerie delle Prigioni. She was the curatorial intern for the exhibition Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power 1963 – 1983 at Tate Modern, currently on view at The Broad Museum in Los Angeles. She has worked at numerous museums, galleries, and non-profit arts organizations in the U.S, UK, and Italy including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Boston Center for the Arts, M.I.T List Visual Art Center, and Tate Modern.

Hello! My name is Suzanna Petot and I am a curator and writer currently living in London, originally from Queens, NY.

I am a Curatorial Assistant at the Hayward Gallery, recent exhibitions and projects include Hiroshi Sugimoto: Time Machine (upcoming 2023), Asim Waqif: Venu (2023), Strange Clay: Ceramics in Contemporary Art (2022) and Monira Al Qadiri: Devonian (2022).

I curate petz projects, a series of exhibitions organised in collaboration with Rabbet, which focuses on providing a platform for emerging artists in London.

I am also a co-organiser of the interdisciplinary arts project Decorating Dissidence with Dr Jade French and Dr Lottie Whalen.

I have previously worked for the for the Arts Council Collection, White Cube, Gallerie delle Prigioni | Luciano Benetton Collection, Tate Modern, The Courtauld Gallery, M.I.T List Visual Arts Center and the Boston Center for the Arts.

My curatorial approach focuses on increasing engagement and accessibility to art for as wide of an audience as possible, especially to young people. My projects explore contemporary art and interdisciplinary practices - especially performance, installation, and textile art. My research interests include craft and design, feminist art and community art practices.

Outside of the art world, I enjoy football (yes, soccer), cooking and spritz campari. I am always looking for freelance projects so do contact me if you want to work together!
